A late 19th Century Wedgwood Queen's Ware Lobster Bowl with a band of silver metal plate and silver plated servers with lobster claw form handles. The bowl is mounted atop three lobster-from feet.  The transfer print of seaweed and kelp both inside and out is hand painted. There is some wear to the red paint of the lobsters but no damage to the bowl.  The base is impressed with the Wedgwood mark, along with the date code xx II. The pattern number (C2457).

The bowl reflects the Victorian enthusiasm for exploration and discovery of new flora and fauna. Both the bowl and servers can be found in the Wedgwood museum (item numbers 2226 and 2227).
