A French 19th Century Barbotine Majolica Clock with Relief Floral Decoration by Jean-Marie Pointu

A French 19th century Barbotine Majolica clock with relief floral decoration by Jean-Marie Pointu (1843-1925).  Pointu was one of a few ceramicists who fabricated, designed and painted French barbotine in gros relief, particularly floral and foliate relief in the Impressionist style,  He used Kaolin clay which was manipulated to a paper thin fineness, formed into layers of floral petals and leaves, coloured and sometimes fired before applying more colours, glazed and fired. 

The clock mechanism is marked 6325. Please note that there is an old repair to the clock face.
