HG Stephenson was founded by Henry George Stephenson in 1860, with a stall he rented at the Salford Flat Iron markets. Later in 1868, he moved the business to the newly built Barton Arcade in Manchester. The business is now based in Stockport and run by the fifth generation of the family.
