A very pretty selection of mid 19th century Louis Aimé Césaire Macé Sevres porcelain with scalloped edges and decorated with transfer decoration of butterflies, flowers, and foliage, Macé is said to have been the inventor of the process of transferring chromolitographies onto porcelain and faience in 1847.

Mace's work was recognized during the Exposition Universelle of 1855. He was awarded the honorable mention for decorating Sevres porcelain and also participated at the London World's Fair in 1862. At the next Exposition Universelle in Paris (1867) he was awarded a silver medal for "ceramic chromography". He also participated in the Exposition Universelle of 1878 and the World Fair of 1889.
